A hotel decorated by Wallpepper® honors Broadway and Baudelaire
In the mere centre of Manhattan, right next to the Empire State Building, Henri Hotel was constructed. Like buildings that surround it, the hotel is distinguished with contemporary style inspired by the Manhattan luxury.
The atmosphere in the Henri Hotel takes after the mood that could be found in one and only - the Broadway theatre. The lights are dimmed, the furniture is made of wood and the corridors are dark. On the other side, the restrooms are bright lighted and decorated with oversized mirrors. The contrast between light and shadow resembles the backstage of the theatre – the dressing rooms, as well as the passages between them. The result of this kind of interior design makes every single guest feel like a star.
Even the elevators followed through with the theme. The sliding doors are no more just a regular entrance. They are covered with striking, tailor-made covering designed by Wallpepper® and display a beautiful scenery.
The inspiration for the bedroom décor was industrial architectural style of the Chelsea factories, located in the former industrial area of NY. The main theme for the rooms is called “The Raw Concrete graphic”. The concrete style contains details designed especially for the Henry Hotel – a quote “always be a poet” by Baudelaire made in a real graffiti style, a unique nod to the artistic soul of the city. The main purpose of this particular quote by the French writer is to inspire the guests of the hotel.
Not only does the “concrete” wall deceive the eyes of the visitor, it feels like the real deal on touch as well. The key is in the material used to create the wall – it is made of cellulose and textile fibers, printed with ecological and water based inks and it is PVC free.
The best part is that the wall is like a sustainable canvas, created to always be in contact with people. The visitors are encouraged to engrave their own emotion on it, as well as their artistic expressions.
