Artictic bookshelf - Plectrum
The fourth step of the innovative path undertaken by Boffetto with the collection Form to Furniture, in 99-piece limited edition, represents an unusual journey, in which concrete suggestions and emotional visions mix up in an apparently impossible manner, in a surprising project.
Stefania and Stefano, both from Abruzzo, with a long true friendship and the same name, took independently their own ways, very different from one to another. However, they manage to combine their sensibility and their different creative paths.
While Stefania was looking at the sea, picking up stones, smelling the atmosphere, and had a passion for a tree, in which she was looking for her own essence, Stefano was travelling, gathering emotions and writing notebooks.
Two paths, two lives which find together one day and start to share a project like the Plectrum collection, made of concrete things which solid surface, durmast, marble ...
If we look at Stefano’s watercolours, it is not easy to find solid surfaces and marble rigidity.
If we look at the soft and evocative lines of Plectrum, we can admire Stefania’s ability to concentrate her love for nature and for the silence, in an object evocating soft tones.
What happens is that the softness of a watercolour combined with the solid surface, the sound of a plectrum mingled with the sound of a drawing and two stories and two experiences can be the same. It does not happen often, but sometimes it just does.
Stefano Odoardi is an awarded film maker and artist from the Abruzzo region who seems more European regarding its experience and vocation since he has settled in Amsterdam. His vision of art is general and unusual. One can experience his vision not only in his movies but also in his paintings and notebooks. Indeed, it all starts with a human and psychic journey’s small and always-travelling-with notebooks.
Each notebook and painting particularly relating to the Mancanza project displays signs, lines, visions and traces of a secret and mysterious language mainly in black and white which the watercolour technique makes even more impalpable.
The collaboration with Stefania Tieri is a complete experience of communication since it involves cinema, music and design.
Stefano Odoardi’s cinema work always cares about linguistic aspects as underlined in the Mancanza trilogy that is being carried out. His cinema work curiously does not apply to any script but take its own path starting with the informal watercolour paintings. It is also characterised by the search of the link between the emptiness of the sign and the completeness of the cinematographic picture.
His watercolour paintings as well as his cinema work invite to the individual creation that connects elements apparently separated. It results an unusual visual experience not only by observation but also awareness and even in a fascinating, unaware and participating way.
