Mrs. Arthur Miller was contemplating once again the picture which made of Marylin Monroe a living symbol.
Willing to rest for a while before the evening party, she was lying on her bed, dreaming on her “Lissandre bed” of which she liked so much the bronze velvet padded effect.
Her portrait, in a draped white dress from now on iconic, was displayed next to the picture of her husband on the leather-covered ”Timeo bedside table”.
Bathed by a soft light, the only bedroom in her 32nd house, amongst the 43 houses she owned along her life, was decorated with a "Salomé dressing table” also leather-covered . The central part of the super shiny lacquered tray was reflecting the precious flasks full of the most rare fragrances.
On the "Chéops ottoman", matching with the dressing table, Mrs. Arthur Miller had left her silk gloves. She had taken great care to store in the "Sultan Chest of drawers", sheated by black Trocadéro fabric, the cashmere sweaters she had bought during her shopping at Macy’s the day before. The horn of deer was embellishing these pieces of furniture enhancing the preciousness of what was stored inside.
Two "Farell low fireside chairs" with tone on tone geometrical motive were giving a boudoir atmosphere, reminding her the bedroom she liked so much to stay in at the Hotel Bel Air in Beverly Hills. In the living room, Mr. Arthur Miller, was comfortably settled on the polar white silk velvet "Cassidy sofa" and was tasting a whisky while reading the news of the day.
Pretty soon, the gala dinner given in honor of the movie "Some like it hot" would gather round the "Taj table" made in smoked eucalyptus, the A-list of Hollywood producers and film directors.
Without any doubt, this high society would be amazed by the "Lazy Susan" inlaid in the centre of the table and made upon order in polished Ebony of Laos.
On each of the two "Seth dressers" made in carved Ebony of Macassar, bunches of multicolored flower were adding to the cheerfulness of the evening party.
Yet, some guests had taken place on the living room’s "Filomeno armchairs" while on the terrace, some starlets basked of envy on the padded "Alix deckchairs" showing their languid silhouettes.
Marilyn was then giving the last touch to her makeup… Within several minutes she would make her entry in the living room…..
