STUDIO MHNA proudly announces the launch of their Inversion collection, in collaboration with furniture manufacturer Decca Home.
GEOMETRIC ROMANTIC / 2017 NOVELTIES
Geometry is the mother tongue, the compositional and expressive alphabet from which Porro draws year in year out to create beds, containers, bookcases, chairs, tables, accessories and complements with a deeply evocative feel, where abstraction and concreteness, solidity and lightness are balanced.
Porro project has always set out to “square the circle”, to create enchanting shapes into space: a blank sheet that takes shape and volume as it is gradually filled with stylised, essential systems and collections, which find their perfect position from all possible viewpoints and are then finished off and painted, so to acquire an ever-changing flavour, to fulfill all desires and tastes.
A custom-made creation, halfway between seriality and customisation, Porro’s home can be suited to clean, definite settings modulated by the rigour of black and white, as well as to soft, intimate interiors enlivened by the warmth of wood and by decorations: each creation is a world of its own, a unique alchemy between space, matter and colour, always revealing the unmistakable mix of style and savoir-faire which represent the brand’s distinctive mark.
This year once again, the fundamental ingredient of Porro’s home is material research: with passion, personality and an expert eye, the company has sifted through infinite suggestions to select only a fragment of it, resisting the erosion of time and fashion.
The palette of finishes has been expanded further: the 16 Porro woods include pale moon, the new essence whose striated accents contribute richness and expressiveness, as well as “barrique” oak, a very unusual grey with neutral warm tones, obtained by means of a special treatment that highlights the tannin naturally contained in the wood.
The metallic finishes on the other hand, with their “antico” red, “bruciato” brown and “porfido” grey, bear witness to the search for a not-flat color, rich in nuances and textures, capable of creating a sense of depth and shininess like the oil paintings of the 17th century. Finally, the most evident stylistic novelty is the use of fabrics for closet interiors.
The choice this year has been to intervene with soft parts inside the closet system to create truly precious chests in which to put one’s clothes, playing with colors and materials: different essences of woods married with strong colors such as red, brown, grey and turquoise, for solutions that are completely personalized in which anyone can seek their favorite mix. For this project, a selection of naturally fire-resistant and biodegradable fabrics have been selected, combining aesthetics with the quality of the yarn and performance with care for the environment.
The grid of the Porro’s space, the 4 company’s systems are refined each year, offering a texture in which to move freely, giving rise to ever-changing configurations. The Storage system of wardrobes, open wardrobes and walk-in closets is renewed with the new eco-leather components and accessories, in the vein of softness. From the new eco-leather covered shelves, on which to place the most precious pieces, caressing them delicately, to the new internal jewelry divider for 100 or 120cm long drawers, finely divided into compartments for glasses, bracelets, watches, cufflinks, necklaces, as well as rigid bracelet, earring and ring holders, providing impeccable and meticulous order that enhances by separating them.
If the new vertical Lift sliding doors lend new possibilities and dynamism to the System equipped wall, the Modern system of containers is enriched with new compositions, working alone or synergistically with the Load-It bookcase, creating solutions that combine bookcase, container, writing surface, vanity niche and television stand, satisfying all the aesthetic and functional needs of the day area. Passe-partout between the night and the living area, Boutique Mast is the elegant graphic cage characterized by reduced thickness circular metal uprights where to fit cantilevered glider-wing shelves. A strongly visual and impressive composition that in the night area becomes a minimal walk-in closet for a boutique or the home of a hedonist, and in the living area an open cabinet and large capacity bookshelf.
Art director Piero Lissoni oversees the update of the systems, also putting his signature on two new products for the day area.
The new Materic table emerges in the space with its clear and rigorously fashionable aesthetic, a decorative object that juxtaposes the absolute simplicity of its form with the attention to detail and workmanship. An exercise in totally pure geometry, a thin circle resting on a truncated cone, it is tinged with the rich copper highlights of the surface in dark green marble, and the intense dark of the solid black stained ash base, tapered and then turned with a delicate wedge design recalls the columns of the Greek temples. A visual icon, that mixes classical inspiration with a contemporary soul.
The new padded Pioggia chair, a contemporary interpretation of the classic wood chair, belongs to the same family of the Neve chair and the Ghiaccio armchair. Its streamlined legs, available in natural, black stained, red stained and white stained solid ash, remain visible, conversing with the soft fabric or leather covering that perfectly suits the seat and the armrests, covering them. Essential yet distinctive project, to be personalized in the mix of materials, it can be declined in a totally black key, in delicate nuances or daring with color, bringing a new convenience and expressive possibilities to the dining room and work areas.
In parallel, the creative bond continues between Porro and Gamfratesi, that is Enrico Fratesi and Stine Gam, the pair who combine the Mediterranean spirit and Nordic culture. A new classic, the Kite armchair designed for the 2017 collection, is a soft but also generous product, that can inhabit an office’s waiting area, as well as a period house thanks to its evergreen look and its timeless charm.
On the one hand, the black-painted metal structure is a set of curved lines into space, unquestionably a Porro creation, on the other hand, the leather or fabric covered internal padding winks at the fashion world and recalls the shape of an enveloping coat with a folded collar, creating an inviting arm support. The slightly protruding high seat cushion boosts its comfort, creating a stylish object in its leather version, whereas the fabric version leaves room for colour, texture and decoration.
In the night area, an intimate size and a complete leather cover characterise the new Sadoru bed by Oscar and Gabriele Buratti brothers, two of the company’s favourites for their measured style and their eye for detail. Tall and solid, with its strong yet not excessively deep headboard, Sadoru easily fits all home and contract environments, where the eye is captivated by the chosen material.
The thickness, the double seam and the refined detail of the large, curved headboard, that folds in on itself like an envelope on the sides, reveal a creative, ingenious project and an almost hand-crafted saddlery-like production.
Also the Hub system of containers for the night area bears the Buratti signature: elegant structures where wood is integrated with other materials such as glass, marble and leather to respond to the functional and aesthetic needs of a bedroom, of a dressing room or a luxury boutique.
Combining 2 depths, 2 drawer heights and 2 lengths, the project is arrayed in a rich range of configurations that include bedside table, long bedside table and central drawer unit, in multiple variations. In fact, each module can be equipped freely by choosing one’s own preferred order from among wooden drawers, transparent or colored, single- or double-faced, glass drawers, 10 or 20cm high display cases, shelves with eco-leather trays, and finally a comfortable leather covered bench with drawer, conceived for the waiting time while trying on a suit. The personalization is also completed by the possibility of changing the top covering material (wood, marble, metal or glass) for tone-on-tone or contrasting solutions.
