Modern Swedish Maisonette

In Vasastan, Stockholm, there are lots of beautiful apartments and buildings which we’ve presented to you over the years.

Today we found a particularly interesting property. It’s a maisonette which is the diminutive for the French “maison” meaning “house”. Usually, a maisonette is an apartment which occupies two or more floors and has its own entrance.

This one was built in 2013 on the roof of an old building. It is now situated on the 5th floor out of 5 and it offers beautiful views over the rooftops. The maisonette is particularly interesting because it has a series of unusual features for such a space. For example, it has high ceilings, arched windows and a private terrace facing west.

The elevators takes you to the 5th floor where you enter a beautiful hall with gray walls. The kitchen and the living area are part of the same room.The dining area fits nicely under the stairs.

The staircase offers access to the upper floor where the sleeping area is located. The glass railing allows it to be functional without obstructing the décor of the living area.The kitchen is black and equipped with modern appliances. The color makes it stand out and sets it apart as a distinct area.

Upstairs is the bedroom with a large walk-in closet where you’ll find the bathroom. Double doors then offer access to the terrace. The apartment has nice views over the city and a variety of interesting design feature and architecture elements.The arched windows definitely give it a distinctive charm and the overall distribution of the rooms makes it very smart and practical.
