Host & Home: a project for the international hospitality
The Host & Home project, created in 2015 for the international high-end hospitality market, makes landfall at the International Furniture Fair in Milan following the Big Bangkok fair in April 2016 and Maison & Objet — Paris, September 2016. Host & Home is sponsored by the DITP (Department of International Trade Promotion), the Thai foreign trade office, and is curated by Mitor Consultancy Services — a team of Italian professionals specialized in interior design and project management.
At the Furniture Fair, Host & Home will present a complete project with international appeal for high-end contemporary living, in consistent continuity with an identity and culture containing thousand-year-old traditions. The collection results from a fusion between the high craftsmanship and sophisticated manufacturing of Thailand and the imprint of Italian design.
The creation of the Host & Home collection was enabled by the participation of 21 Thai manufacturing companies and consists of bookshelves, tables, beds, upholstered furniture, chairs, textiles, accessories, vases, glasses, cutlery, table items, and lamps in an exclusive and contemporary style, as well as cosmetic kits and essences perfumed with essential oils for the environment.
Thailand is known throughout the world for its extraordinary furniture creations resulting from the skilful use of fine wood, such as solid teak, oak or bamboo, the weaving of various natural fibres, and accessories made from hand-painted ceramic, blown glass, and fabrics mixing cotton with lotus, piña, and kapok fibres. Over half of Thai furniture production uses wood originating largely from rubber tree (Hevea) plantations, managed in accordance with sustainability criteria. Other woods, such as local teak, or imported wood such as oak, beech wood, birch, and mahogany, come from certified sources. The combination of craft tradition and technological progress ensures that “Made in Thailand” is a guarantee of quality and design with an international flavour.
With its ability to create customized products and supply comprehensive project management services, Host & Home provides international hospitality markets with a professional and competent partner for architects, interior designers, and contractors. Contemporary design, quality services, and fine Thai craftsmanship are at the service of project development within the hotel and residential fields.
Famous for its hospitality and sunny tourist destinations, Thailand is, above all, the cradle of an ancient and fascinating material culture, rich in values and old traditions with multiple expressions. Added to all this is technological progress which, together with economic development, has placed the country within the circuits of the global market. The signature style of Thai furniture reflects its philosophy of harmony and close relationship with nature for design that successfully combines the traditional and contemporary, artisan skill and new materials.
